Landcruiser Mountain Park
www.landcruisermountainpark.com.au

Hello all,

I have done a review of Landcruiser Mountain Park after our stay up there on the Anzac long weekend.

Accessibility & Location         <ii> <ii> <ii> <ii> <ii>

Located about an hour north of Kilcoy its a easy drive up even in a Suzuki, with the last available fuel at Kilcoy. Signage into the park is good and the road in to the camp ground is supposed to be 2 wheel drive access but I found it a bit rough. It is a four wheel drive park so you have to expect that. It has a shallow rocky water crossing in dry weather it's certainly no place to take the family sedan. It's a little bit too far for a day trip but perfect for an overnighter or more.

Amenities          <ii> <ii> <ii>

Being a long weekend when we visited the park it was fairly busy although not as bad as it would have been if they had an event on. Each campground has a amenities block of 2 toilets and 2 hot showers for each sex. There seemed to be a continuous line up for the female showers but most men can go a day or two without, which meant the line up wasn't as bad. I found the shower block floors to be constantly dirty although unavoidable with the amount of dust around and wet feet. They were cleaned daily although with the amount of campers could have been cleaned more often. Bins are provided and were emptied after the crowds had gone on Sunday.

Camp grounds          <ii> <ii> <ii>

There are 4 designated campgrounds with amenities although camping is permitted anywhere throughout the park, I must advise that you take the time to check out all the campgrounds before setting up. We ended up next to a large loud group of people (although this is through no fault of the park) and there are quite a few nice places that are out of the campgrounds which are only a short drive to the toilets. It is required that you take all your drinking water with you and if you want a camp fire make sure you pack an axe or chainsaw, then you can help yourself to a fallen tree and you will be warm all night. Pets are allowed but must be kept under control as to not annoy other campers or attack the wildlife. Surprisingly there was not a lot of wildlife throughout the whole park, I think we seen 2 kangaroos over the whole weekend.

Tracks          <ii> <ii> <ii> <ii> <ii>

If your going four wheel driving for the weekend you want some good tracks then Landcruiser Park has the best from easy to extreme. If you can drive all the tracks in one weekend than you haven't spent enough time drinking. A map is provided upon signing in and while it was accurate it was also quite confusing at times, signage and the gradings for the tracks need to be redone as some medium tracks were impossible for me and some of the extreme tracks seemed easy. You best judge the tracks for yourself before travelling them. Claw Gorge and Cruiser Canyon were favorites of mine and I steered clear of the water/mud at the Pig Pen as it looked festy.

Hospitality          <ii> <ii> <ii>

The park provides basic items at the office which was handy for topping up the esky with ice, prices seemed reasonable and operating hours of the office are from 7am to 9pm which is very convenient.

Cost          <ii> <ii> 1/2

I found the costs to be a little expensive. The overnight rate is pretty much in line with other parks at $35 a night but if you stay longer than 24 hours they will charge you a day rate of $20. So for arriving at 11:15am Friday and leaving at about 2:00pm on Sunday we were charged 2 night rates and a day rate totalling $95.00 per vehicle.

Summing up          <ii> <ii> <ii> 1/2

Although only a small group went for this trip we still enjoyed ourselves and it made for quicker travelling of the tracks. It is great for a long weekend away and you can go as hard or as easy as you like but as always don't go out alone, an easy track can quickly see you needing to be recovered. The only letdowns were the Cowah Falls not being what we expected and the weekend costing a bit more than I'd hoped. The real positives are the location of LCMP and tracks which make it worth the stay.

See you on the tracks, Mark. (mrw82)

We Went to Landcruiser Mountain Park on the weekend with my family friends, we had a great time and enjoyed a lot. I and my family had enjoyed a great weekend at Landcruiser Mountain Park. It?s the perfect place to sharpen your off road driving skills and enjoy with your family at same time.We enjoyed the camping areas of The Gums and Fig Tree along with the fishing, swimming, mountain climbing.
It was a great day.  🙂

I was up there the weekend before and had a ball.

We had 3 x 80 series, 2 hilux's & a rocky, we actually left the sierra at home for this trip as the missus was the navi  🙂 🙂 🙂

I would put some photos & a video up but none of them are of the zook  😀 😀 😀

I agree it is expensive and the way they charge is a bit ordinary but the tracks are the best for every type of 4 wheel driver from novice to pro.

I also found out that the next Mud Bulls & Music will be the last time it will be on, due to the amount of trouble they are having with the idiot brigade that turn up.

cheers

Pete

There's enough idiots there on a regular weekend, let alone one specifically targeted at attracting them!  rofl

i think the owners are pulling back a bit,  they stopped running coopers rally there now, and with mud bulls going,  it goes to show thats what they are doiing.

not really a shame.  cruiser is ok but there are better parks out there and nearer to brisbane.

It is very professionally run with respect to many others however that is reflected in their pricing.

I think the owners are getting over it, obviously as it's been for sale for quite some time, about the same time their attitude seemed to change

I liked it and will go back, but not on a rainy weekend as everything turned to a hard track on stock jimny tyres lol
I got the feeling that they would rather not have dickheads there but after the second day they seemed to warm up to us 🙂
Must be hard putting up with clowns and I can only imagine what it would take to run a park like this, I give them props aye!

If you think Landcruiser Park is good, you should check out The Springs, Manar Park or Rover Park. Those places are where it's at!  <ii>

Maybe you might find Janowen Hills good also but that place is starting to go the way of Landcruiser Park IMO.
